Washing hands seems obvious... until you see what you often leave out
Why is hand hygiene so important in the pharma industry?
The pharma sector is all about quality, safety and reliability. Even a minuscule trace of contamination can affect the final product and therefore the health of the patient. Thorough hand washing is therefore not a formality, but one of the most important ground rules within a pharmaceutical environment.
To make this extra tangible for our starters, we did an exercise: instead of soap, we used red paint. At first glance, the hands seemed clean, but the paint clearly showed which areas are often forgotten - between the fingers, around the nails, on the thumbs and at the wrists.
That visual experience made it immediately clear that careful hand washing requires more attention than you think. It is a small act with a huge impact: it reduces the risk of contamination, protects the production process and ensures patient safety.
A simple test, with a powerful message: hand hygiene is essential - every time.
